How to Save a Corner Store: A Neighbourhood Retail Story
In 2022, Finch Store, a neighbourhood corner store, was visited by Toronto Municipal Bylaw officers and the owner was told her espresso machine was unlawful. The regulations in her area did not allow food and drink preparations. Though about three years later, the Mayor hand-delivered her a new license.
Today, neighbourhood retail is legal across much of the city, a win that Dan Seljak helped make possible. On July 22nd, he tells the story of how it all unfolded.
This is a Pay What You Can event, a $5 donation is suggested.
